So next friday my work wants me to come in from 8-2pm for training and then they want me to work from 4-midnight. Thats not a big deal but they want to call the first half training and only pay me regular pay for a 14 hour day. They say that if i dont go to the training they wont fire me but they wont schedual me either. Is there anything i can do about this bull?

i'm too lazy to look it up.. but there is a law about split shifts.. they have to be at least 8 or 10 hours apart.. (i cant remember which)

Yea its 8 but this is only 2, if they dont pay me ot i am going to quit but i was seeing if there was anything i could throw in thier face to make them pay me ot.

I hate it when companies pull bullshit like that.

Kind of like how i know a dude who worked at home depot, they'd schedule him to work 39 hours a week, only 1 hour away from being able to get benefits  Thumbs Down

Cali law says that any time over 8 hours a day must be paid 1.5x normal pay, and anything over 12 hours a day is double time. I don't see any exemption for so called "training" hours.

If they don't pay you what they're legally bound to, tell them to shove it and report them to the DOL.
