Im sure they will try to get his sentenced reduced, but I guess this judge had it out for him (probably saw a wesley snipes movie he didnt like) and he threw the book at him.  the way it looks, he will have to do all three years hard.  I guess he evaded millions, so the judge is using him to send a message to other celebrities who are considering income tax evasion.  all these other celebrities who get pinched for crimes get off pretty easy because of their social status.  I guess the judge is tired of celebrities getting off easy.  I cant blame him, but I cant say I agree with that.  but then again I dont know the law on income tax.  I do know that it sucks balls and we shouldnt have to pay it.

I think he should pay but going to prison for 3 years? Molesters and rapists do less time in a lot of cases  Thumbs Down

It's interesting to see someone that high-profile actually challenge the validity of the tax laws. Too bad he was crushed under their weight like everyone else. I am fed up with the crazy ass tax system, it has become so convoluted that ordinary people have no hope of understanding them and have to support an industry of "tax professionals" who barely understand the shit themselves.

The thing I just love about the IRS is that they don't tell you right away if you fucked up or they didn't get one of your forms, they like to wait long enough to rack up the maximum late penalties and then send you a letter. Of course, you can only respond to the letter with another letter, and the whole time you're accruing more late penalties. It's like a backdoor taxation system.  Thumbs Down

That is insane, especially since he wrote the fucking checks. So here, you didn't pay your taxes, but we'll collect in full with late penalties and on top of that we'll waste millions in tax money by putting you in prison.  idiot2

The judge should have just forced them to write him into Blade 4 as a guy hunting down tax-evading social vampires! But then I guess that would just be punishing all of us.

he does have it.  Weve all the testicular fortitude, we just need someone to take charge of that shit.  I think many people are getting sick of the way things are going.  I say we go "V for Vendetta" and explain to the government that we do not need them, rather they need us.  We are no longer going to pay taxes to support the presidents war boner, pay 4.00 a fucking gallon for gas, hide marijuana, pay interest on our stuff, etc.  I also think that no one under 21 should be allowed to participate.  No offence to you underage kats, but it tends to be the younger guys who offset the balance of a protest with violence/anarchy.  anybody feel like leading that?  Im not going to do it, I just bought a really nice recliner.

He did pay up, which is why I think the prison term is unnecessary. I don't understand the point of wasting millions of tax dollars to make an example out of him when it's really a victimless crime. Most rich people can afford accountants and offshoring to evade taxes anyway, this won't make anyone quake in their wingtips.

I just think its funny how americans talk about how they want change but nothing does any good.  protests are met by anti-protesters, ridiculous laws are passed because the senate says so, while they usually never have to feel the sting of them.  Someday something serious is going to happen and everyone is going to say "we should have done something to stop them."  All I know is that if the world ever became like it is in that movie equilibrium, id be a "feeler".  theres only so much governmental control the social body will tolerate.  Its a bummer that if it came to that, anarchists would out-weigh everyone probably 3 to 1.  We wouldnt have the opportunity to make a sound argument because too many people would be out burning shit, breaking shit, killing, robbing, etc.  such is the human way.
