the state of rhode island is going to begin enforcing certain laws for the workforce that requires employers to verify 'newhires' legal status.  Companies that do business will also be required to verify employment via federal computer check on their employees status to work here.  It will be a felony to rent houses and apartments to illegal aliens.  This comes on the coattails of about 17 other states beginning their crackdown on illegal immigration.  Arizona is going to make it a felony to for employers to hire illegal aliens, just to start.  As an adding incentive, they will shut down the employers business, receive a huge fine, perhaps even face jail time.  Not all are applied of course, probably the fine will be most enforced.  Rhode island aims towards the 11% of their population, mostly canadian that are part of the work force.   Arizona, obviously gearing towards mexicans, have already seen a dramatic drop in emergency room patients, jails, schools and jobs.  the state is looking at a mass exodus of immgrants, which will probably spell out a rush of people into the surrounding states, or returning to mexico.  Either way, the economy will be in major flux during that time.

We have had similar laws here in Cali. They never ever stay true though. While I strongly agree and like these laws they create a lot of problems.

With these laws employers have had considerable strain on making sure everything is in order. Papers are often fake and/or stolen. Employers do not have the proper training to identify legal papers. Its not fair to the employer to be held responsible because of fake papers. So the employer would rather just not deal with it at all. So instead they decide not to hire a certain race. Now its racism, but since it is a private company they can legally decide to pick only whites or non-irish, etc.

In Escondido we had a very similar city ordinance. Lan Lords could not allow illegals to rent. What I stated above happened. This was Escondido's goal all along, to eliminate the hispanic population from their city. Biweekly driver liscense checkpoints, no corner hiring, and now the renting ban (which was deemed illegal) were all implemented to rid the "mexican" pest, as quoted by the city council members.

I think they mostly are sticking this to the workforce and state related jobs.  I think youd have the toughest time doing this in cali simply because of the population of hispanics in the state.

i dont think we should hold employers responsible for stolen papers and i dont think they would ever do that. if it looks legit but isnt and youve checked it then it becomes identity theft and thats a felony, but since we dont charge illegal immigrants we just deport them they come right back.

The deporting thing has always pissed me off. A man over here was deported twice for DUI. The third times a charm. He killed a gorgeous honor student the third time around.

Finally the government threw him in jail. Here's the best part. The family of the killer were mad at the family of the victem. That's right. You heard me. They were mad because the victems family wants him jail and not to be deported.

a good friend of mine had a semi from a farm field pull out in front of him, he was doin 60-65 in a 55, hes been in the hospital for 3 weeks now. the guy who pulled out in front of him was illegal so they set him up for deportation. my friends dad said fuck that and took it into his own hands, a bad idea, he took a base ball bat over to the semi drivers house and almost beat him to death now hes in jail for assualt with a deadly weapon.
