PHOENIX —  A series of fast-moving thunderstorms packing winds of up to 100 mph plowed through the Phoenix area, leaving tens of thousands without power, damaging several airliners and collapsing a brand-new college football facility.

60mph is high for monsoon winds and 100 is really rare even for the "micro bursts" we get here.
My favorite storms in Phoenix are the haboobs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haboob
- Yes, haboob is a word
- yes it has "boob" in it
- yes I love to say it... over and over

The storm didn't hit my house that bad, I slept like a baby, but it did do damage elsewhere:

What really pisses me off about this is that this is where we used to tailgate for ASU football.
They ruined the best tailgate area in the state to pitch an 8 million dollar tent that gets destroyed 2 days before the home opener.
Brilliant.

that sucks. when i was in new mexico we were sitting on my aunt and uncles back porch watching the thunder storms and the lightning. the wind was blowin so hard you couldnt even really stand to walk you had to almost crawl to get to the door. it was awsome. they had 60mph winds there for almost 2 days straight gusts to about 65-70. so i guess thats what i base my experiance on we always seem to get there just as they start to.

One of my trees in the front yard had been leaning over ever since the storm.  Today it finally fell into the street.  My dad is out of town and I had no way of moving the tree.  One of my neighbors came over and told me he would go to home depot and rent a chainsaw.  He came and chopped up the tree and I had to move all the pieces he chopped.  I paid him $50 dollars for renting the chain saw.
I now have this big hole in the ground and a lot of wood sitting in my front yard.  At least it’s not in the road any more…
