An Observation on Maps...
«
on:

Loving the new maps. Compound could be a bit smaller, but I LOVE the layour. Damn you Surf and your Sniping map.....
Customs == BDS Legacy
Our custom maps are pretty prevalant in the DODS world. However, it seems that we get more "new" pubber traffic when you play one or 2 stock maps every few maps. Seems like its already happening, but I think if when an RTV comes up or you wanna nominate a map, nominate some of you favorite stock maps. That may get new pubbers in the server. (I love a 10 man BDS orgy as much as you guys, but imagine if we got more new blood to
rape
play with
)
Today I saw at least 5-6 new faces that I've never seen in our DODS server. We played Argentan and Donner back to back. I think if we run stocks every so often, pubbers get in the door. THEN we spring the custom BDS goodies on em
This already happens to a degree, as some of us like to play some of the stock maps anyway
just my .02

I agree wholeheartedly with rock on this (especially since most of you know my position on spawn killing, and how its generally impossible to spawn kill on stock maps) the stock maps create an entirely new feel and it does attract new blood.
Also nothing will drive a pubber away quicker than being spawn killed repeatedly. The vast majority of the BDS maps are quality maps, but as rock said I also notice an increase in pub traffic when its not constantly 4towers/complex.
BTW surf, your newest maps are absolutely amazing

Uh... don't pick a custom map when it comes up for vote?
Also - all "low" admins can initiate a map vote...

Apparently not anymore, mapvotes are apparently restricted to "medium" and higher, by edict of rider i believe...

well "nominate" is back, so anyone can nominate a map for the mapvote.
I threw a map vote up the other day and it got switched from 4towers to a stock map (i think) and there was nothing but moaning about how awesome teh 4towers is. "who the hell voted to change the map? wtf?"
haha, can't hate a classic I guess. Joe's right: vote for the stock maps or even nominate a stock map every couple maps when you can.

Can you make some of the glass breakable too? Maybe the windows on the catwalks?

the walk ways that lead to the center tower; second level I guess. they have glass floors and windows. Not a big deal, but if the windows were breakable I think it'd be cooler. kinda like 4towers

Ok dudes, I cut the map down by 1/3 of its original size. Added some breakable glass and some glass barriers for the four corner flags. Almost all glass can be shot through with any weapon. Also added some camo texture but not sure if it will show up. Should make it a bit funner at this size.
