I reacon the Parents of the girl should also be ashamed. I dont care about the customs of Liberia, if something so tramatising happerns to your child or anyone you know for that matter, you just dont abandon them. Thats almost as sick as the rape its self. Have they no shame.

I would like to hear the fathers logic on how this is her fault. One 8 year old girl against 4 teenagers, thats no contest, she never stood a chance. Im guessing that his basis for placing the blame on the daughter comes from some ridiculous cultural or religious view...idiotic. What that girl needed was the support of those closest to her and her parents say that she should be ashamed?!?! WTF, if my parents acted like that after a traumatic event, I would want nothing to do with them, unfortunately the girl is only 8.

Shit like this has always happened, it just used to either not be illegal or just got swept under the rug. The really fucked up part is that they probably came here to escape shit like that in Africa and then it happens here. Fuck the dad too, put him in prison for a bit and see if he finds out what shame is.  Thumbs Down

Don't even get me started on the whole family honor/rape shame bullshit. The other week they were talking on World Have Your Say about the women who were stoned for wearing pants and there were some motherfuckers defending that shit, even pushing the whole "women in short skirts are asking for/deserve to be raped" and the "men can't be trusted to withhold their primal urges" bullshit. I don't think some people will ever grow up.
