From what I was reading after his wallet was taken, Forrest took his gun under the seat of the Jag, chased the em down the street and had a gun fight which he lost. His 11 yr old son was with him at the gas station. I don't think it was the smartest thing to do since it's just a wallet which can be replaced. If he would have stayed at his car with his son, he would probably be alive still. Sux that he died though.
