I just hit the end of level 70 in Modernwarefare 2, and i don't see anyway to go to prestige mode? Do I have to finish all the achievements also? or is there something I'm missing to get to Prestige mode.

I am at level 30 right now is 70 the highest level than prestige and is that with all the perks. Might want to Google that.  If it is like world at war you’re basically giving up all your accomplishments for prestige.

i found the option under Barracks. But what it does is, you lose all your weapons and achivements, then puts you back to level 1 with 2 more challenges , and a new Icon by your level.  Is it worth it? I'd like to finish my other challenges before I restart over, like 50 one shot sniper kills etc.

getting it back to lvl. 70 in prestige gets you another custom class slot other than that not really

I just saved my stats before I went to prestige mode in cod5, that way if I didn't like prestige I could just put back my old rank..

Prestige mode is only useful if 1) you want the brag badge, 2) you want extra kits to make.  Theres no point otherwise to doing it. It resets all your current achievements, puts you at level 1 just so you can start over again.

Aside from getting more customizable classes, you also unlock more challenges, thus enabling more titles and emblems as well.
