Well, my tax return is on it's way, and it's time to upgrade the ol' GPU.  I have an 8800 gts 512, and some of these newer games are starting to push my system pretty hard.  I figured the GPU would need to be the first thing to upgrade.  What do you guys think is the best card out there in the $200-$250 ish range?
Current specs:
GPU: 8800 GTS 512
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 3.4 ghz black edition
4 GB 800mhz DDR2 ram
asus m2n sli deluxe mobo
850w cooler master power supply
If you need to know anything else, let me know.

Hmm.  I've never even considered an ATI card before, but it does seem like the 5850 is kicking the crap out of the competition.

yeah that card has some awesome benchmarks but for me personally i am a NVIDIA lover all the way.
i recently built a system for a friend with an ati card it is pretty good and you will spend less money for the same performance as the gtx 280.

I'm a big NVIDIA guy too, I've never even considered an ATI card, but seems this card kicks the crap outta the competition.

So I saw this bundle here on newegg, and I'm wondering if it was worth it.  You see, I was going to upgrade my compy piece by piece, but if this bundle is worth it I might be able to talk my wife into letting me get it Tongue

It's the "Black Vision" bundle on the right

yeah, but "cutting edge" is somewhat misleading, as the "edge" tends to move pretty fast nowadays  Grin all three of thos GPU cards in those bundles are pretty damn good.  I paid $130 for my 1GB ATI HD4870 12months ago, so I'd say the price is about the same for the same level of "cutting edgeness".  Granted, I've no idea the quality of XFX or Sapphire GFX cards, I always get ASUS or Gigabyte cards.  ATI is def the way to go (has been for the last few years) for a performance/$$ ratio.  (only now it seems that the top cards are ATI?)

Universal gripe being the ATI drivers, but if you disable the Catalyst Command Console, its less annoying.   ATI drivers have improved in the last 5 years though.

Fuzzy, I've got the almost identical setup with the cpu/mobo.  Have you had any BSOD's gaming?

I would go with the third combo I have that CPU the 965 and an msi mobo and the work great that CPU is very fast and you can over clock that very easy to 3.8 on all cores and it still runs about 40-52 at that speed. When buying that CPU you are actually buying a 3.8 it is actually made to clock it at 3.8 GHz with the stock fan.
