the router i have 2wire 2701 is a hunk if shit, and is known to have continuous dropouts so im buying a new one.

im looking into buying this one. All reviews only say good things about it and it does exactly what i want aswell as the VoIP and ADSL2+ features could be useful down the track.

Anyone have any experience will billion. ive herd there good.

Most US-based broadband providers here provide the modems, so not a lot of people here have experience shopping for DSL modems or modem/router combos for that matter.  I've never even heard of Billion.  The VoIP thing also sounds good, too, but again, most VoIP providers here provide the hardware to plug your existing phone to the internet (like Vonage).

in Oz you ahve the choice the get one or pay 100$ and get a crappy one from the isp. I was looking at some buffelo and linksys ones, but they're just too expensive.

I'd recommend Linksys, but then again its all I've ever used  ... Buffalo makes shitty external HardDrives (3 failures in 2 years for me)--not sure if that reflects on their other products.  Cheaper isn't always better.
