I am looking to buy a sata drive for a HP desktop that is a few years old.

I have been out of the loop for too long.

Whats a good standard SATA drive? Nothing huge - 160 to 320 gigs?

Like to spend less than $60 with shipping.

I've had pretty good luck with many of the Seagate Barracuda series mainly in the 80gb size. Here's one in 500gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395

hmm, WesternDigital has been good to me the last 5 or so drives I've bought, all Caviar-series (I think it goes Green, Blue. Black from lowest to bestest).  Recently bought a 1TB for $75.   I'd stay away from a the external USB harddrives--found out the hard way that they only put 1-year warranties on them.

through the retailer?  most of the WD MFG warranties on their externals 1TB or less are 1-year limited.  UNless its a MyPassport model, but even then I've only found one with a 5yr; most of those models are only 2.  Its gotta make you wonder though how much they faith they have in the external models if they'll only put 1 or 2 year warranties on them, but 3 and 5 years on nearly all of their internal models....

That's why you buy the enclosure and dive seperate. Get a USB 2.0 /  ESATA  enclosure and any sata drive you want.
