That's been a big sticking point for me. This notion that someone (or someone's heirs) is somehow entitled to making money for eternity on something that may have taken 10 minutes to come up with (The Happy Birthday Song anyone? 10 grand every time you use it in a movie).
People should be fairly compensated for their work...but, forever? How much is enough? The Asshole who came up with, or at least patented, .mp3s is supposed to get a royalty EVERY TIME WE PLAY AN .MP3 ON THE AIR. What horse shit. The royalties for those are already in the BILLIONS.
This notion of net neutrality is a joke. Corporations are still trying to find a way to make us pay for what we get for free now. Money talks in DC, baby...
