Yes. they do.  But they're viewed as suckers instead of heroes these days.  People haven't changed.  What we value as a society has.

One hell of a Man indeed. His attitude reminds me of  a Uncle. He had his legs blown off in WWII from inside a tank. He was the only one that lived from the attack. He survived many years after the war with wooden legs. He had the same attitude as winters did, and never regretted going to war for his country. He was my Hero when I was a young man, and all the stories he would tell us about his war days made me proud to be an American, and still does. Men like these gives me goose bumps.
