Tonight, the moon will be at it's perigee - the low point in its elliptic orbit, and the opposite of apogee.  The moon will be the closest it will be for about 20 years.  Until then, it will never appear to be bigger or brighter than tonight.  Try to catch it as close to moon-rise as possible, when it will appear largest thanks to an odd psychological effect.

Cool science stuff, yah?

not that big a deal anyway.  I saw it, just a bit brighter.  the coolest one Ive ever seen was a blood-red moon in Iraq.  that Shit was scary.

We had one during Halloween one year but I bet the effect in Iraq was disturbing.

I thought it was a little brighter out Sat nite.
We had a "harvest" moon in the PacNW last month where it was really low on the horizon and burnt Orange.  Kinda odd for late winter/early spring
