It looks like there is a co-op mode . . .

I hope it is a MUCH longer game than the original, which was just a part of the Orange Box.

Pre-ordered it, suffered through that annoying Potato sack gimmick. All worth it though, and thats just for the single player. The new mechanics (propulsion gel, repulsion gel, etc) were well implemented and i cant wait to see some of the custom maps that will come out for it.

I have yet to play the Co-op, I will likely create a topic for those interested to post when they are available for some.

Bottom line: definitely worth it, even just for the single player. With the addition of multiplayer and what people will make once the SDK is released this becomes almost a must buy.

I pre-ordered PC via Steam, so I started playing pretty much as soon as it released last night.  rockon

Just finished single player about an hour and a half ago, then did the first round of co-op levels with Mahones.   Thumbs Up

The single player is fucking hilarious, and the co-op is great, too.  Definitely going to be doing more of this.

Damn no edit button.  idiot2

Anywho, also wanted to say...some of those levels on single player are serious brain-busters.  There were a couple where, after fucking around for a while and not getting anything done, I just sat, elbow on the desk and chin in my hand, and stared and thought for 10 minutes before I figured shit out.  Damn good game IMHO - challenging, but in a fun way, not 'Myst IV - What is this I don't even...' hard.  And there were a good 3 or 4 parts that had me seriously laughing out loud, which is quite an accomplishment.

So yeah...Portal 2:  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Damn it.  I swear, last self-reply.   I am retarded.   idiot2

I hope it is a MUCH longer game than the original, which was just a part of the Orange Box.

Took me a bit over 6 hours to beat single player.  I think if I played through it again, knowing how to beat the harder levels, I might be able to shave it down to about 4.  Compare to Portal 1, which takes me about 45min.  So yeah, much longer, but I think co-op is where the real replayability is going to be.

Agreed, Just got done playing some with hav0k (him on his PS3 no less) and things went rather well. Brilliant idea to have Co-op, genius idea to have it cross platform.

I'm a little miffed I didn't buy it for PC seeing how many of you guys did.  Playing CoOp on XBL is lame w/ strangers, but I do like the Gesture mechanic.  Also, ditto on the comedy--Steven Merchant was a brilliant choice for Wheatley, and I think JK Simmons steals every line of dialogue with his PA Announcements as Cave Johnson.  Gut-bustingly-hilarious!  Grin

Story is definitely longer, but the puzzles are not necessarily harder than P1 imo.  Once you get the hang of the "gels", the levels solve a bit faster than P1--the learning curve on P1 was a bit steeper, as some of the later puzzles required more timing+longer sequences to solve.  P2 is a bit more forgiving, and the rooms are not nearly as long.  But the writing is 3x better (cause the story is 3x longer) and the easter eggs are awesome too.  I think the only smudge on the whole thing were the damn loading screens.... so many loading screens...

oo also, I think other devs should adopt Valve's approach to In-Game Commentary--I don't know of any other games besides HL2 and P1/P2 that have "commentary" levels that lift the curtain behind their process.  Call me a completionist, but I enjoyed the commentary almost as much as the playthrough.
