Yes. (I have both.)

For gaming, you can't beat the PC.

Then again, you can turn your Mac into a PC just by setting up a Windows partition and using BootCamp (included free these days).  Get the Mac with a large hard drive and invest in a 64-bit version of Win7, if you don't have it, and install to the Mac to turn it into a dual PC/Mac bootable system.

Easy peasey.

Or you can just get a pc which is cheaper and can do anything a mac will do but for less. I cant advocate paying much more for a system with lower end hardware than an equally priced windows machine. With Win7 there is really no need to have osx. With windows you just have to research the laptop manufacturers since an operating system had no control over the hardware it is put on. My dad has a toshiba laptop that is over 8 years old and working fine while my buddy's imac had its motherboard burn out after 2 years.

But a PC can't run OSX or OSX apps, which means it cannot do anything a Mac can do.  And I've had PCs that died within 13 months.

Personally, I prefer PCs because I build them myself.  But I have a Mac, too, and accept their advantages along with their disadvantages.

PC is always a better answer in my opinion.  Macs are nice but PCs have much more capability.

A Mac that boots up in Win7 64 is a PC.  A Mac that boots up in OSX is a Mac.  A Mac that can boot up into both OSes is both a PC and a Mac.  A PC is only a PC.  Which has more capability?

I prefer PCs because you can build them yourself, which makes them more tweakable (and you can squeeze more life out of them).  But a Mac has more capablity in terms of the software it can run, and for certain applications (publishing and photography) it is a much better platform than the PC.

it depend on what you want to do with it. Fog is right with the capabilities. Gaming wise, the mac will have high enough specs to play the games you would on a pc without draining the battery heaps.

If you got the money and are impartial id go the mac simply because of the battery life. If your actually using it for the function of a laptop(portability) long battery life is a key feature. unfortunatly most windows based laptops have shit battery lifes.

Back in February, I gave myself a sweet little upgrade - less than $800 got me a pretty sweet rig that included a 60GB SSD Bootdrive (I'll never boot off a hard platter again...).  I've since got a new keyboard and hard drive (for mass stuff where access time isn't as crucial), but altogether this has cost under a grand (minus a head, I'm still using my old Planar 17", but when I'm up at my parents' I plug into their TV via HDMI).  Laptops are always going to be pricier than PC, moreso if you want modern gaming capabilities.  If you do decide on a gaming laptop, you'll always be tethered to a power source, as gaming laptops eat battery life FAST.

I don't like the Apple ecosystem whatsoever.  I think Steve Jobs is a petulant, vindictive man-child, and his actions toward Apple's business partners reflect that.
