So my b-day is on the 29th of this month... I've been wanting to pick up a new rifle to teach my kids how to shoot. I have been kicking around some .22lr options that I have run across as ideas, something schweet looking since my sons don't think the standard rifle would be "cool" to shoot.
Well i finally decided on one and was planning on picking it up this weekend so that I could have it in time for my b-day (thanks California for the 10 day waiting period for a long gun). Last night my family corners me in the front room (my mom, stepfather, wife, sons & daughter) and sing Happy Early B-Day to me and hand me an envelope. Inside are 2 gift cards to Big 5 and a "hold" receipt for my new rifle! My wife and parents went in on it and reserved one for me, so I got out of work early today to go down and do the paperwork. I'll have it on the 24th, so I am planning to break it in over my b-day weekend with my kids at the range. Its called the Colt M4 Ops (the image shows the 30 round mag, but thanks to California Law mine will only come with a 10 round mag..so i also ordered an extra 4 mags for it):

I was checking out a Holo site for it too, not sure if ill grab it though. Here's a shot with it all "accessorized"

The compensator in that pic is sexy as hell, i might pick one up for it

Here's the write up from Colt:
The .22 caliber Colt M4 Ops is not merely a conversion unit, but a dedicated .22 built from the ground up by German engineers.
This handsome rimfire rifle sports an AR-style look and is modeled after the legendary original Colt M4. A "Tactical Rimfire" rifle, the M4 Ops is an upgraded version of the .22 M4 Carbine. Instead of the standard forearm found on the carbine, the Ops has an RIS, or Rail Interface System, that provides tactical railing on four sides allowing for you to mount a variety of available accessories.
Additionally, the carry handle that's on the carbine is also replaced by a detachable rear sight making the M4 Ops an ideal optic-ready rimfire rifle.
