First off here's the pertinent information:

So, i believe i know exactly what the reasoning behind it is, i'd just like clarification, and hopefully a resolution as i don't think it was totally warranted, not to mention the BDS servers are great.

Late last night (early this morning about 5am) I joined one of the BDS fun servers, don't remember exactly which one. There was someone on the mic by the name of <sk> Mrs Useless accusing someone that they are being racist, because they have referred to someone else in game as 'a Russian'.

So i questioned her (my first mistake), as to how calling someone a Russian can be racist. The conversation went on, it got a tad bit heated as i really don't like the idea of others labelling someone as a racist, particularily for no good reason. So i got a bit riled up,  i may have got out of line and referred to <sk>Mrs Useless as not being very bright. I then received a barage of " I'll have you perma-banned; do you like this server cause you won't play here anymore". Now i really thought there was no valition to it, as i can't count how many times people threaten other people with getting them banned cause they know 'someone'. I have played on the servers for about  month or so now, and have seen players call other players a gamite of homophobic and other degrading names, with no reprocussion, so i was confused at how referring to someone as a Russian on this server would be an issue. Anyways, i left it be, continued to play, and disconnected.

Fast foward to 5 minutes ago. I try to connect to my favourite server, 24/7 Towers, and it said i'm banned, so i could only assume it's because of the 'discussion' last night.

I'm a grown man, and am more than willing to take my lumps if what i had done was deemed innapropriate or against the BDS rules, i just hope that there could be some kind of amicable resolution. There's a few BDS guys that i'm sure would vouch that i'm an alright guy, never causing shit in the servers, and last night too, i did not really think i was dealing with anyone more than a random noobie.

So i leave this in your hands, i'll be checking back reguarily for an update, as i'd really like to be back and ripping it up on my favourite DoD:S server.

Art's a cool guy; I've never had any trouble from him. It sounds like this was a one time thing, combined with a little bit of miscommunication.  In the past, Art has been one of the few pubbers that I enjoy playing with.  He's been a mature and reasonable guy up to now; IMHO I would give him a second chance.

If you read the post, you will see i do not claim to be innocent, maybe a little too quickly judged, but not innocent by any means. I did what i did and was against the rules obviously.

Art, I am the one who banned you after I received a pm from <SK> Mrs. Useless.

I appreciate that you came in here to request an unban, and I hold your grammer skills in high regard as well.  We don't get too many educated posts in this section, so yours was a nice read.

I will speak with her as soon as I can, and then I will let you know the final outcome to this.

As a heads up, she is a Highly Respected non-member who has been with us for quite some time.  She has consistently supported this Clan throughout our existence, and should be treated as royalty by all.  She is as much a part of this family as any [BDS] Member.  That's one of the reasons that she is the Only Honorary Member of our Clan.

With that being said, you have earned some points from me for your honesty, sincerity, and your ability to coherently form whole sentences using the appropriate punctuation when necessary.

So hang in there, and I will try to get back to you tonight (if I get a chance to speak to her) on this.

Sorry I didnt respond earlier but I had just got a few phone calls I had to take care of.

Ok this is what I can remember what happened, it was very early in the morning. I'll try to keep it short.

I was in the server with a few other people playing on the iceworld map.  I heard someone come over the mic in a angry voice say "You fucking Russian!"  I responded with "UH No no...racial slurs like that arent allowed." as a warning, so the person didnt get into trouble for it.  Then Art said that wasn't a racial slur.....cuz they aren't colored (something like that).  You can be any nationality and still have racial slurs for that ethnicity.

Anyways I was trying to explain that someone or anyone could come in the server and hear that being said and take it as a racial slur.  Art then proceeded with calling me stupid and only someone stupid like me would think that. Which that did hurt my feelings.  But now Im ok with it.  I wasnt trying to start an arguement at all.  But he persisted on it.  I told him a few times not to worry about it. And yet kept going.  I typed in the server some of what I had said. It should be in the logs.

I asked him, and the other guy that was on the mic blabbing, if they played on the [BDS] servers much. They responded with yes.  I said that I would be talking to someone in the clan about this and they wouldnt be.  

Art and the other guy just laughed at me and said "Oh yeah right, that wont happen, this isnt your server you have no jurisdiction here. They wont care."  I said "OK then" and I left and went and PM'd Doc and E-Rider.  I did not go into details in the PM just wanted them to know what happened and let them decide on what to do.

I hope this helps.  It would be better to explain in Vent or another voice program.

I have spoken with Mrs. Useless about this situation.

Heres my feelings on the situation:

You were wrong to harrass another pubber just because you thought they were "just another pubber".  This is a great life lesson, "don't screw with people you don't know, it may come back to bite you in the ass"

Mrs. Useless informed me that she was not looking to have you permabanned, which is what I did.

After reading your posts, i believe that time served is a decent enough sentence for your transgressions.
 
As soon as I get a chance, you will be unbanned from all of our servers.

I hope that since you claim to be a "grown man", you will learn from this as we all will, and you will continue to enjoy our servers as they were meant to be enjoyed.

BTW - the average age of our members is around 31, which is a rarity in the gaming world.  I believe that its also a reason why our servers are as popular as they are.  This is one of the reasons we have the rules we do.  Most of us are too old to want to deal with crap on the servers

I am in total understanding, and i do aplogize i was out of line. Hopefully there will be no ill feelings.

Also thank you to BDS for allowing me back in, this will never happen again.

Just my two cents if I may.... No offense Mrs. Useless, but saying "you fucking russian" IMO isnt racist because it is a classification of someone of that country.. Its the same as someone saying, "You bloody American" which is said alot by the foreigners, and Canadians.. however it is all in joke because we are from different cultures.. I mean I could be wrong in this, but like I said, this is just how I look at it.. Because it isnt a slur, its the actual classification..

I hold Mrs. Useless in the highest regard, so dont get me wrong. I just disagree with the judgement on this one on her part.. Therefore I can understand Art Brut's argument.. However, dude you cant mouth off to the sister of BDS... lol.. but im sure he had no idea.. I am sure he will mind his "P's" and "Q's" in the servers from now on..
