One of the new things on these forums is the ability to take and give beers to people. This is sort of a karma rater.
The idea behind this new feature is to rate a person's post or posts based on helpfulness, quality, and overall character. If they have proven helpful, then a positive rating is given. If they have come to taint our hotness, a smiting is in order.
Since you have to have a reasonable post level to be able to rate other members, not just any random e-thug can come into the forums and "smite" everyone or someone they have a grudge against.
This option is located for the people who can see it below the stars and above the posts of others side profile bar to the left of there posts.
Please do not abuse this feature. Be sensible with it and don't raid peoples beer-o-meter.

You have received 5 smites for your blindness. If you READ the first post in this thread, it clearly explains it.

i like to think of myself as a compitent person and can read pretty well. no where in morgos first post does it say where to go to beer someone, hence my question of where on the site do you go to beer someone is a legitimate question. the first post might explain what the beers next to your name mean, but it doesnt say how to beer someone. am i wrong?

Very good!
Yes, that is by far the best thing you have ever written on this forum, and worthy of a sticky (and a beer from me
). I couldn't help but make some minor adjustments and elaborate on some parts since this is going to be something that is represented as a guide of importance here.
This is a perfect example of when this rating feature should be used; when someone goes above and beyond to bring something useful to the forums. Definitely worth commending!

i guess my number of "reasonable posts" differs from yours....lol im only at 90 posts so i suppose thats not enough. so i did thoroughly read what he posted i just didnt realize i wasnt high enough yet, which rarely seems to happen. i also cant wait to get that buttweiser off of my name.

You have received 5 smites for your blindness. If you READ the first post in this thread, it clearly explains it.
This is a perfect example of a post in which you would smite someone. Our illustrious Doc has not only provided us with false information, he punished someone for asking a legitimate question to which there is a reasonable answer.
Due to Doc's inherent ignorance, many poor members of this forum have been tainted by his misguided information. As a matter of fact, the first post does
not
explain
how
or
where
to smite someone, and even if it did, Dudley wouldn't be able to see it anyway, due to him not having the minimum number of posts required to use this feature. So, considering the fact that he can't even see where to do it and that there is no post explaining how to do so, I believe that his question was completely reasonable. Also, this is entirely disregarding the fact that a majority of the member populous doesn't even know the minimum post count (for good reason) to be able to rate other members.
You now have before you two perfect examples of when to use the rating system. I hope you all have learned something here today.
Love you Doc.
